This simple blanket pattern can be modified if you like, to change from the designed, color block nature to a more striped effect. All you need to keep in mind, is that you always change to a different yarn color when you are starting a right side row AND increase until you are half way through your yarn; then begin decreasing until you have 6 stitches left.
If you wish to change the increase and decrease technique (i.e. M1 instead of knit front & back or knit 2 together instead of slip, knit, pass slipped stitch over) – just be consistent!
