Debbie Brosen is an award-winning artist from Kinderhook, NY. Time spent the in the outdoors gave her a deep love and respect for nature and wildlife, while also providing inspiration for drawing and painting. Animals, both wild and domestic, have become the focus of her art. Debbie works in a realism style, accurately depicting the animal’s expression and intricate details whether its fur, or feathers. She is especially known for how realistic her animals look, thereby giving her viewer a gateway to their soul.
Because of her connection to nature, Debbie enjoys using tree fungus, leaves, wood, saws, and feathers as her “canvas”. For the past 30 years, Debbie has used the sale of her feather paintings to help further conservation efforts and habitat protection, so wildlife has a place to live and flourish. She has worked with numerous hunting/sporting organizations, resulting in tens of thousands of dollars raised to support their efforts. Her generosity in this manner led to her earning the Pass it On Award from the New York State Outdoor Writers Organization in 2021, and induction to the NYS Outdoorsman Hall of Fame in 2022. Debbie was also accepted as a member of Artists for Conservation, an international non-profit organization that promotes education and wildlife conservation through the arts. A portion of all sales from this website are donated to conservation organizations.
Debbie works in acrylics and pastel and has recently added scratchboard as another medium she favors. Although Debbie paints for several organizations on a regular basis, she also does commissioned pieces. The realistic and detailed approach Debbie has mastered has drawn a great deal of attention to her work. In the past three years, Debbie has earned 40 awards from juried competitions open to artists internationally.
Debbie’s painting titled Restful Glance (below) was accepted into the San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center’s October 2024 exhibit, and will appear in the 54th Edition of Artistonish Magazine, which has a readership of over 100,000 people in over 150 countries. Her art can be found in private collections throughout the US and Canada.
